Description of Activities
This project will concentrate on replacing small gasoline and diesel-powered equipment (such as lawn maintenance equipment and small utility vehicles used in facility maintenance and grounds maintenance) so that NOx emissions are reduced.
Deliverables & Environmental Results
- Partner with private sector to test clean off-road equipment in City Parks and Recreation applications
- Compare effectiveness of various technologies (cost, performance, pollution) and determine best vehicles/equipment for city’s replacement
- Enlist private sector to assist in purchase of replacement vehicles
- Quantify NOx and other pollution savings

Project Timeline
- July – December 2007: Test industry-loaned off-road trial equipment
- January – March 2008: Calculate emissions reductions from industry-loaned trial equipment
- June 2008 – June 2010: Purchase and introduce new off-road vehicles into fleet and quantify emissions reductions.
